VT Reedle Shot 100 vs 300: Which Strength Makes More Sense?
The number makes 300 look like the obvious upgrade. It is not that simple. These are better understood as different intensity decisions inside the same product family.

Start with 100 unless you already know you want a more intensive Reedle step.
Reedle Shot 100 is the more sensible default for a first purchase or a routine that values frequency and simplicity. Reedle Shot 300 is for someone who already tolerates the Reedle sensation and wants the more intensive, less-frequent option—the current U.S. directions say 300 can be used every three days. The higher number is an intensity cue, not proof of superior clinical efficacy.
100 and 300 are more similar than the numbers suggest
Look at the current U.S. ingredient lists and the overall formula architecture is strikingly similar. Both are water-based products with glycols, glycerin, niacinamide, macadamia seed oil, ethylhexyl palmitate, silica, sodium hyaluronate, centella-derived components and propolis.
That matters because this is not a comparison between one hydrating serum and one exfoliating acid. The core job is the same. What changes is the intensity tier and how often the brand expects you to use it.
Why 100 is the better default for most shoppers
Reedle Shot 100 has the lower-friction role. It is the current line’s easier entry point, and Ulta’s use instructions place it after cleansing before moisturizing skincare.
That makes 100 the more rational first purchase if you are curious about the line but do not yet know how your skin reacts to the prickly Reedle sensation. It is also easier to troubleshoot. If irritation appears, you have fewer reasons to wonder whether you simply started too aggressively.
There is another practical signal: 100 currently has a much larger Ulta review base than 300. That is a market-visibility observation, not efficacy evidence, but it reinforces 100’s role as the mainstream entry product in the U.S. assortment.
When 300 actually makes more sense
Choose 300 when you have already used a milder Reedle product comfortably and you specifically want the more intensive tier.
The current Ulta instructions are materially different: Reedle Shot 300 can be used every three days, and the page warns not to use it with another Reedle Shot essence or beauty devices on the same application day because of irritation risk.
That makes 300 a less frequent intervention, not necessarily a better daily serum. If you enjoy a minimal routine and dislike planning around treatment nights, the stronger tier can actually create more routine friction even if you tolerate it perfectly.
What about “absorption” and pore claims?
Both product pages make strong claims around CICA REEDLE particles, ingredient absorption and visible texture/pore outcomes. Those are brand/retailer claims tied to the product technology and testing.
KBV does not turn those claims into a universal conclusion that either product will make every serum penetrate better or that 300 will outperform 100 on pores. Our separate Reedle/spicule evidence explainer is the better place to understand what microspicule delivery research can—and cannot—prove.
The side-by-side decision
| Decision point | Reedle Shot 100 | Reedle Shot 300 |
|---|---|---|
| Routine role | Lower-intensity entry / more frequent use | More intensive, less-frequent step |
| Current U.S. size | 1.69 oz | 1.69 oz |
| Formula architecture | Very similar base with niacinamide, silica, centella components, HA, propolis | Very similar base with niacinamide, silica, centella components, HA, propolis |
| Brand use signal | After cleansing, then follow with moisturizing/active skincare | Every 3 days; avoid other Reedle essences and beauty devices on use day |
| Better first buy when… | You are new, cautious, or want less routine disruption | You already tolerate Reedle products and specifically want the higher-intensity tier |
| What is not proven here | That 300 produces superior long-term clinical outcomes versus 100 | |
Who should skip the upgrade
If 100 already leaves your skin feeling too prickly, red or uncomfortable, moving to 300 because you think “stronger works faster” is the wrong reason to upgrade. More stimulation is not automatically more useful.
The same restraint applies if your routine already includes several irritating steps. A Reedle product plus retinoid, exfoliating acid and device use is not a badge of seriousness. It is simply more variables to tolerate and troubleshoot.
The verdict
Buy 100 if this is your first real Reedle purchase or you want the simplest path into the line. Buy 300 only if you have earned a reason to go stronger—meaning you already tolerate the concept and prefer a more intensive, every-few-days step.
And if you dislike the sensation or your skin is already reactive, the correct answer can be neither. Reedle intensity is optional; a higher number is not a skincare requirement.
